Event Season 2022

The event season started for Poppet and I at Poplar Park Horse Trials in the BENovice. Our dressage has improved greatly over the winter months and we came out with a score of 30 for our first dressage of the season. Next came show jumping, it was our first time jumping on grass of the season but we came away with a clear round to be in 3rd heading into cross country. We finished the day with a great clear across the country with some time faults dropping us to 8th.

After Poplar we headed to Great Witchingham at the end of March to do another BENovice. Another good dressage test for a score of 33.5 and another clear show jumping round; cross country had a few challenges to face but we flew round clear with a few time faults dropping us from 3rd to 5th.

Our latest run was at South of England with another BENovice at the start of April. Unfortunately an unsettled dressage but still a good score of 33. A very short and sticky show jump warm up lead to one pole down but still a very good round. The cross country was going really well, up on the time until the last half where the ground was a little sticky which slowed us down to gain a few time faults but still a good clear round.

Poppet and I also were invited for a lesson with Matt Lanni at the WESKO Foundation pathway day. We had a great time and learnt a lot ready for the rest of the season.

The plan for the rest of the season includes stepping up to Intermediate and completing some FEI 2* events. I also aim to compete my home bred Echo at 90cm and to gain her experience out at events.
